Formation of CGSR

 

                With a view to propagate the ideals and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi among the young generation, Rajiv Gandhi Cultural and Educational Trust, University of Calicut instituted the Chair for Gandhian Studies and Research in the University. The Chair started its functioning with effect from 1st November 2004.

              The Chair was instituted in the University as per U.O No.GA1/B1/7491/02 dated. March 04 2004. The Chair was formally inaugurated by Sri. Oommen Chandy, the then Chief Minister of Kerala.Sri.Thennala G Balakrishna Pillai, MP, sanctioned an amount of Rs.10 lakhs from the MP LAD Fund, for the construction of the first phase of the office of CGSR.

 

Rajiv Gandhi Cultural and Educational Trust (RGCET)

 

                Rajiv Gandhi Cultural and Educational Trust - A public Charitable Trust registered in the year 2002 with register No.351/2002/4, headquarted at Calicut University Campus. The foremost objective of the Trust was to institute a Chair in the University of Calicut for the propagation of the ideals and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi among the young generation.
               The Trust, the donor organization of the Chair for Gandhian Studies and Research (CGSR), had remitted Rs. 3 lakhs towards the corpus fund for instituting the Chair.
